The Spain Digital Nomad Visa is a residence permit designed for remote professionals who work 100% online, allowing them to legally live in Spain while continuing their professional activities.
This visa is intended for employees of foreign companies as well as self-employed professionals who provide services to clients or businesses located outside of Spain.
Requirements
Minimum documentation
- Valid passport
- Employment contract or proof of clients located abroad
- Proof of income for the last 3 months, at minimum
- Criminal record certificate (apostilled)
- Health insurance
Minimum Income Requirement
Minimum Proven Income (€2,850/month – 200% of the Minimum Wage)
Who can apply for the Spain Digital Nomad Visa?
The Spain Digital Nomad Visa is available to individuals who work remotely and earn income from companies or clients based outside Spain. Applicants must be able to prove their remote professional activity in one of the following ways:
- Employment contract with a company outside Spain
- Self-employment providing services to international clients
- Shareholder or manager of a foreign company
Employees contracted by foreign companies
For employees under an employment contract, it is necessary to prove that:
- The employing company has been active in the market for at least 1 year
- There is an existing professional relationship of at least 3 months prior to the visa application
- The work can be performed remotely from Spain
Self-employed workers (freelancers)
In the case of self-employed professionals, it is necessary to provide documents proving:
- Provision of services to foreign companies
- Existence of professional contracts for at least 3 months
- That client companies have been operating for more than 1 year
What is the duration of the Spain Digital Nomad Visa?
The Spain Digital Nomad Visa is initially granted for up to 1 year or up to 3 years, depending on where the application is submitted. It can then be renewed, allowing for a longer stay in Spain in accordance with the applicable regulations.

Registration with RETA (Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers under the Spanish Social Security System)
